Brand identity, naming and packaging design for an original line of hazelnut spreads

With the market, as well as consumer expectations continually growing, our client has decided to launch a new range of hazelnut spreads, which has the potential to become one of the critical pillars of the company's portfolio, as one of the leading suppliers of FMCG in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Shift was tasked with creating a new brand that would appeal to a younger-minded, more selective consumer target group.

The name La Bomba initially developed from the notion of an "explosion of taste" and became the starting point for developing a visual identity system which needed to demonstrate the high quality as well as the superb taste of the new products. A real challenge for the designers was helping the brand set itself apart in a crowded product category. Shift has created a verbal and visual identity for La Bomba which positions it as the hazelnut spread of choice. The energetic colour palette of the design together with the specific spiral method of filling the jar which gives an additional element to the overall look on the shelf, reflecting the tastiness of the ingredients, and help the product stand out in stores and look great on digital media.

The new, delicious treat is available in a range of traditional flavours including hazelnut and hazelnut-milk spread and in more inventive combinations like hazelnut-banana and hazelnut-strawberry spreads. The distinctive use of colour was implemented in way that allows the consumer to identify flavours and quickly distinguish between the different ingredients.

The font used in logotype, bombastic in itself, called "Jelly bomb", is the very base of the visual identity. It is mostly used on the background shape which simulates a kind of explosion, and together they make a distinctive logo. Other fonts used on the packaging are neutral and basic, leaving space for the photography to speak for itself. Strong and flexible, the system can be easily adapted for future brand extensions and product lines
